Chief Engineer - Facades

Key responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day engineering production for exterior wall panel designs, ensuring quality, accuracy and on-time delivery of calculations, shop drawings and details.
• Prepare, review, stamp/seal and distribute structural calculations that support panel framing, connections, glazing, windows, building attachments and cladding systems; follow up with project EORs and wall consultants as required.
• Review contract drawings and specifications and verify shop drawings for compliance with project requirements and applicable codes.
• Manage engineering personnel and coordinate external consulting engineers to meet the workflow plan and project schedules.
• Maintain and record best practices and lessons learned for continuous improvement of product design and manufacturing processes.
• Research and recommend hardware, software and process improvements; lead technology integration with senior management approval.
• Visit fabrication shop and field sites periodically to verify compliance with approved drawings and address field modifications.

Qualifications & technical skills

• Professional engineering registration in Pennsylvania, New Jersey or New York (or ability to obtain registration in the near term).
• Significant experience in engineering design and detailing for exterior wall systems, curtain walls, windows, louvers, or related façade components.
• Proficiency in RISA (structural analysis) and Revit; experience with finite element analysis is a strong plus.
• Strong understanding of architectural and structural drawings and shop drawings for glass, aluminium, steel and concrete interfaces.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to author clear calculations and technical documentation and to professionally represent the company with clients and consultants.
• Proven ability to lead, coach and manage engineering and drafting teams; organised, detail-oriented, and able to follow verbal and written instructions with minimal supervision.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.

• Strong cross-functional collaboration with manufacturing, sales and project management to keep design/drafting on schedule.
• Adoption of improved engineering practices and tools that increase throughput and reduce field issues.
