The CIO will own the investment mandate end-to-end: macro analysis, thematic research, trade structuring, execution, risk oversight and investor communication. This role is suited to a leader who understands market cycles, liquidity dynamics, derivatives, exchange microstructure, and the incentives underpinning the Bitcoin economy.
The ideal candidate pairs strong traditional finance expertise with a deep understanding of the economic and technological foundations driving Bitcoin’s adoption. Experience operating in volatile, asymmetric markets is essential.
Key Responsibilities:
- Develop and execute the fund’s investment strategy aligned with long-term performance targets.
- Lead research across market structure, capital flows, global macro, and Bitcoin-specific adoption trends.
- Design and manage multi-strategy portfolios including directional trades, arbitrage, derivatives, and yield opportunities.
- Build frameworks addressing liquidity, volatility regimes, price discovery, and exchange order-flow behaviour.
- Establish institutional-grade risk frameworks, including stress testing, sizing, VaR modelling, and downside protection.
- Oversee counterparty selection, market access, and execution pathways across centralised venues and settlement providers.
- Ensure transparent reporting, operational integrity, and compliance with UK regulatory expectations.
- Manage the fund’s treasury strategy including asset allocation, liquidity buffers, and reserve planning.
- Explore structured products, options strategies, and financing opportunities tailored to Bitcoin-based portfolios.
- Lead evaluation of new market opportunities, technology partners, and execution infrastructure.
- Represent the fund to LPs, institutional allocators, family offices, and strategic partners.
- Deliver performance updates, research insights, and market commentary to global investors.
- Support fundraising efforts, fund structuring, and the development of new investment vehicles.
Qualifications:
- Proven experience as a CIO, Portfolio Manager, Head of Trading, or Senior Strategist within hedge funds, asset management, or proprietary trading firms.
- Deep understanding of Bitcoin market dynamics, including halving, liquidity cycles, miner behaviour, incentives, and long-term adoption drivers.
- Strong derivatives knowledge across futures, options, perpetual swaps, and structured exposure.
- Experience generating returns in volatile, asymmetric, or emerging asset classes.
- Expertise in macroeconomic analysis, quantitative modelling, and risk-controlled portfolio construction.
- Strong grasp of market microstructure, execution algorithms, and venue analysis.
- Ability to build and interpret models relating to supply dynamics, market depth, and volatility clustering.
- High integrity, strong judgment, and a bias for systematic decision-making.
- Ability to operate in a fast-moving, research-heavy, high-conviction environment.
- Exceptional communication skills with the ability to articulate complex market concepts to investors.
- Degree in Finance, Economics, Mathematics, Engineering, or related field (required).
- Advanced qualifications such as CFA, MSc, or MBA (preferred).
- Demonstrated self-directed study and expertise in the economics and technical foundations of Bitcoin.
