We are seeking an accomplished and dynamic Partner specializing in Antitrust and Competition Economics to join our leadership team. This revenue-generating role combines deep technical expertise, business development acumen, and thought leadership to drive client engagements and firm growth. The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in delivering high-stakes economic analysis, building client relationships, and, ideally, providing expert testimony as an expert witness in antitrust and competition matters.
Key Responsibilities:
- Client Engagement and Business Development:
- Lead the development and execution of strategies to acquire and retain high-value clients, including law firms, corporations, and regulatory bodies.
- Identify and pursue new business opportunities, leveraging industry networks and reputation to generate revenue.
- Build and maintain long-term client relationships, acting as a trusted advisor on complex antitrust and competition issues.
- Lead the development and execution of strategies to acquire and retain high-value clients, including law firms, corporations, and regulatory bodies.
- Technical Leadership:
- Provide expert economic analysis in antitrust and competition cases, including mergers, monopolization, price-fixing, and other restrictive practices.
- Oversee the design and delivery of rigorous economic models, econometric analyses, and market studies to support client objectives.
- Author expert reports, white papers, and presentations that withstand scrutiny in legal and regulatory settings.
- Expert Testimony:
- Serve as an expert witness in antitrust and competition-related litigation or regulatory proceedings, delivering clear and compelling testimony (preferred but not mandatory).
- Prepare for depositions, hearings, and trials, collaborating with legal teams to ensure robust and defensible economic arguments.
- Thought Leadership:
- Publish articles, speak at industry conferences, and contribute to the firm’s reputation as a leader in antitrust and competition economics.
- Mentor junior economists, fostering a culture of intellectual rigor and professional development.
- Firm Leadership:
- Collaborate with other partners to shape the firm’s strategic direction and growth initiatives.
- Contribute to internal initiatives, such as practice development, recruitment, and knowledge-sharing.
Qualifications:
- Education: PhD in Economics, with a focus on industrial organization, antitrust, or competition economics. Exceptional candidates with a Master’s degree and significant relevant experience will also be considered.
- Experience:
- Minimum of 10 years of experience in antitrust and competition economics, with at least 5 years in a revenue-generating or client-facing role.
- Proven track record of leading complex antitrust engagements, such as merger reviews, cartel investigations, or abuse of dominance cases.
- Experience providing expert testimony in court or regulatory proceedings is highly desirable.
- Demonstrated success in business development, with a strong network of client contacts in legal, corporate, or regulatory sectors.
- Skills:
- Deep expertise in economic modeling, econometrics, and quantitative analysis (e.g., Stata, R, Python, or similar tools).
- Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to translate complex economic concepts for non-technical audiences, including judges, regulators and clients.
- Strong business acumen and a proactive approach to identifying and pursuing growth opportunities.
- Ability to lead multidisciplinary teams and manage high-pressure, time-sensitive projects.
- Location and Travel:
- Must be based in the USA, Germany, UK, Spain, Belgium, or France.
- Willingness to travel internationally as needed to meet client and firm demands.
- Languages:
- Fluency in English is required. Proficiency in additional languages (e.g., German, French, Spanish) is a plus.
